Elders

“For and elder, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.”
-Titus 1:7-8

EldersFebruary 21st was a big day for VFC….it was the first ever Elder Ordination. Zane Hanna, Dan Sylvester and Bob Peattie were tested and tried and found by the people to be ready for the calling of Elder.

At Valley Fellowship Church, an elder is not just  a seat filler, a decision maker or a political figure. An elder is a shepherd of the people as defined by the word of God. (Titus 1:5-9)

The ceremony included Valley Fellowship’s only previous Elder, Mike Stow. There were friends, family and many of VFC’s congregation as well. The Men were given plaque’s and officially celebrated as VFC’s new council of Elder’s.

In 1992, God began to call me out of the congregation as a lay leader and into the ministry, ultimately to serve as Pastor of Valley Fellowship Church. I am currently in my 22nd year of pastoring VFC.

History with VFC.Hanna

Since I was with the men of VFC (at that time Calvary Baptist Church) when I was saved, I immediately made them my church family. I’ve just entered my 19th year of an incredible journey of serving Jesus through this church family.

Areas of Service at VFC

I’ve been priveleged to be used of God in many different positions throughout my 19 years with this church. I’ve been on staff as Associate Pastor, and Church Administrator; as well as serving on the worship team.

Why have you agreed to serve as an Elder of VFC

From the moment I was saved, I felt Gods call on my life to serve my Pastor as his Armor Bearer as he served the flock of our church. I am still committed to this and see that being an Elder of VFC will help in carrying the leadership burden.

Throughout our time at VFC we have served in the Nursery, in the Children’s Ministry and on the Praise and Worship Team.

Why have you agreed to serve as an Elder of VFC

My love for Jesus Christ and my church family has led me to accept the position of Elder. I have the greatest respect for the leadership at VFC and count it a privilege to serve my Lord and my church family in this capacity.

Lori and I have been attending VFC for 11 years.

Areas of service at VFC

Because of our musical background, Lori and I both have been serving as members of the weekly Worship Team, as well as on the Creativity Team which is responsible for all the planning of future services.

Why have you agreed to serve as an Elder of VFC?

I am passionate about leading people in worship. Being an Elder will bring additional opportunities for leading beyond being on stage as a part of the Worship Team.
