Men

In our culture, the Image of Jesus Christ has been depicted as a man who pets sheep and hugs little children. While this is accurate, the other side of Jesus seems to have been forgotten. This picture of “Gentle Jesus” has been feminized on a large level and it is really just half of the story. God sent his Son to this Earth not only to pay the price for our sin, but to cause division. (Luke 12:51) He was the true example of God’s love but He was also an example of how we are to be confrontational with all sin in our life. Jesus was so confrontational that He was crucified on a cross for His stance on the truth. Jesus never backed down and never gave in; even when He was being beaten, whipped and spit on, He refused to surrender. We feel that this is what we are suppose to produce as followers of Christ. We are suppose to take a stand against the worldly views that directly oppose the word God. We as Christians are to be confrontational with the sin in our lives and radiate God’s love to this lost world.

So come and join us every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. as we fellowship and learn how to be imitators of Jesus through God’s word as men.

MEN – PEOPLE

Men’s Group is made up of men from Valley Fellowship Church who come from all walks of life. Men of all ages, who know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and want to make a difference in the world by the way they conduct their lives. Men who desire to be better husbands, fathers, brothers and sons. We learn how to accomplish these goals by reading the word of God and then putting His instructions into action. As a men’s group we gather together every Thursday evening to have fellowship with one another and answer the tough questions of how we are to live our lives in this world differently. We must learn to respond in a Biblical way to the circumstances of life. According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, we are different than we used to be after the process of repentance and salvation takes place. We are created as new creatures and our goal is to become more like Jesus Christ every day. We learn to look into the truth of God’s word and change how we respond to life’s challenges. We need fellowship in order to accomplish these goals.

MENS – PURPOSE

This men’s group is all about change! Changing the world by modeling Christian fellowship and love. How we respond to the normal circumstances of everyday life marks us as the kind of men we wish to be. Are we slow to speak and patient to listen? Are we slow to take offense? Are we hard to anger and quick to show mercy and Love? Are we quick to forgive? Can we demonstrate our love for Christ by choosing not to be offended? This is our purpose, to model Christ on every single level, in our confrontational attitude towards sin, to have an intolerance for sin just like Jesus when He refused to compromise the truth! Philippians 2:14 tells us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. This does not mean that we have a works based salvation. However it does mean that it is our responsibility to actively pursue our own sanctification through obedience to the simple commands of scripture. This kind of change is our whole purpose, that we are unbreakable and stand our ground on the rock of scripture.
